A commemorative event was held in Rome on 28 October 2026 to celebrate the life of Gigliola Savini Perrone. For the Cuomo Foundation, this remembrance also carries a personal significance, honouring the longstanding friendship between Gigliola Savini Perrone and Maria Elena Cuomo, Philanthropist and President of the Foundation.

“She was a remarkable woman, a sensitive and caring friend, and an entrepreneur without equal.”
— Maria Elena Cuomo

Gigliola Savini Perrone belonged to a remarkable chapter in the history of Italian fashion. The daughter of Gaetano Savini, the visionary entrepreneur and co-founder of the legendary fashion house Brioni, she grew up surrounded by the creativity, craftsmanship and ambition that helped make Italian menswear an international symbol of elegance.

Beyond this distinguished heritage, she was also committed to compassion, dignity and care for people approaching the end of life. As a member of the Fondazione Antea Committee, she maintained a close connection with the Rome-based organisation dedicated to palliative care. Her final wishes, conveyed by her family in the announcement of her passing, included a request for donations to Antea in lieu of flowers, reflecting the importance of this connection.

Fondazione Antea works to relieve suffering, manage pain and support patients and their families, placing dignity, respect and quality of life at the heart of its care. Gigliola Savini Perrone’s commitment to this mission forms a meaningful part of her legacy, reflecting her concern for others at their most vulnerable.

In 2024, the Cuomo Foundation provided funding for Antea to purchase a new electric vehicle. This addition to its fleet strengthened the ‘Ancora più vicino’ programme, facilitating the work of its care teams and bringing them ‘even closer’ to patients and their families.
