‘Exploits sans Frontière’ accepts essential donations at reception held at Cuomo Foundation headquarters on June 27

The Cuomo Foundation recently welcomed members of the latest Himalayan expedition led by the Nice based non-profit organisation ‘Exploits sans Frontière’ association to an event where they were presented with specialized climbing equipment and clothing funded by the Cuomo Foundation. On this occasion, a crucial and educational medical discussion on high altitude sickness was also given.

The objective of this most recent expedition, which will take place from July 8 to August 6, 2023, is to help young people from underprivileged families climb Mount Stok Kangri and to support those who are less fortunate in society. There will be a total of 17 young participants, including 5 individuals with physical disabilities.

The current expedition also includes delivering school supplies to two schools in the remote village of Dah, outdoor cinema sessions, and cultural interactions with local populations. Additionally, the expedition will also provide much needed economic benefits to the mountain communities, as many will be involved as guides, cooks, and support staff.

The expedition will be supervised by two emergency physicians, Dr. Marie Manfiotto and Dr. Romain Bouserez, as well as two nurses, Agathe Brasset and Thibault Troin, and other team members with extensive mountain experience. Mr Noel Smara, an ambulance worker with SMUR 06, the advanced medical responders run by SAMU, the French national emergency services, founded the organisation and serves as its current chair.

‘Exploits sans Frontière’ arranges sports activities for young people with disabilities and those facing social difficulties in Nice. They also carry out international solidarity actions to support communities in Europe and Asia.

The Cuomo Foundation is proud to support this latest challenging initiative.
