Renewed Aid for Climate Challenges in Southern India
Essential goods, procured through the financial and logistical efforts of the Cuomo Foundation, were distributed on December 21 to populations affected by the devastating impact of Cyclone Fengal.

For the second consecutive year, the Cuomo Foundation intervened in the Chingleput district of Tamil Nadu to support communities impacted by natural disasters, which regularly strike this region.

The event brought together some of the prominent representatives of the Diocese of Chingleput, the Cuomo Foundation’s operational partner in this southern Indian state for over two decades. Among them were Rev. Father Anand Damien, Rev. Father Esthakiyus (Vicar General), and Rev. Father Louis Rayar (Judicial Vicar). Representing the Cuomo Foundation were Mr. Charles Kulandai, the Foundation’s delegate based in Chennai; Roshan S., a current scholarship awardee pursuing computer engineering studies in London; and Prabhakaran, a former beneficiary who now serves as an urban planner for the Tamil Nadu government. Notably, Prabhakaran participated in the Re.Gen. initiative, a summer campus organized in Monaco by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and supported from its inception by the Cuomo Foundation.

These commitments highlight the Foundation’s increasing involvement in projects addressing climate change and its impacts on populations, such as cyclones, which tragically underscore the urgency of these issues through their devastating and recurring effects.

[…] I felt a deep satisfaction after joining this program with the Cuomo Foundation team. Seeing the faces of those we helped, I could see the struggles they faced during this time of flooding. The supplies we provided will be very useful for their families. Thank you for this meaningful experience.
