The author, Professor Dr Daniel Cataldo is a renowned specialist surgeon in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic medical procedures who has devoted the majority of his professional life to humanitarian missions.
The goal of this unique medical journal and instructional reference resource, which represents a culmination of all Dr Cataldo’s professional skills and practises, is to increase knowledge and understanding among experienced practitioners and students in the fields of Plastic Reconstructive and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr Cataldo is a founding member of ‘Operation Sorriso-Servant’ also known as ‘Operation Smile’ created by Prof. Jean Marie Servant in 1996. A humanitarian organization operating principally in Niger, it provides reconstructive surgery to young patients affected with NOMA, birth defects, cancerous infections and burns.
In 2010, the Cuomo Foundation sponsored the “Special Luigi Frateschi support” programme which permitted “a new smile” to 40 young patients conducted at the National Hospital of Niamey in Niger.
The Cuomo Foundation assumes no liability for the medical claims made in this book. We were, however, determined to find an appropriate method of practical support for Dr Daniel Cataldo and the humanitarian actions documented herein this publication.
