Exploits sans Frontière, a Nice-based non-profit association, recently completed its ninth expedition in the Himalayas with success. ‘Exploits sans Frontière’ arranges sports activities for young people with disabilities and those facing social difficulties in Nice. They also carry out international solidarity actions to support communities in Europe and Asia.
Since 2023, the Cuomo Foundation has been supporting the association in its adventurous Himalayan expeditions. This year the team consisted of rescue doctors, nurses and volunteers who oversaw four youths with disabilities for a brand-new solidarity expedition commencing in the heart of Ladakh on August 1st.
The team swiftly acclimated and passed the Sermo Pass at a height of 5,600 meters, in ideal weather conditions, despite an early delay caused by aircraft issues. Following a few days of recuperation in Phiang, they tried to climb Utter-Kangri but were forced to abandon it because of the unpredictable weather, which included many days of rain and a hailstorm. They did not, however, waiver in their commitment to their humanitarian objective. Visiting the three Ladakh schools that the association has long supported was one of the expedition's main goals. This year, in addition to school supplies being delivered to all three schools, one school got invaluable support for the refurbishment of its building. Renovations are already under process, according to the association.
